Adopt a school in Haiti

A monthly sponsorship program to provide continued education and food to children in Haiti while their… school is being rebuilt. Their school was destroyed during the 2010 earthquake.
After their school was completely destroyed in the 2010 earthquake, the United Evangelical Church (EEUI), under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd Mompoint, took on themselves to continue to operate elementary classes in their church. Pastor Lloyd’s wife, Dieulène, has been leading a small team of teachers to keep providing 60 children with education.
This is being done in very harsh conditions, as they have to run many classes side by side, without dividing walls, with a high volume of voices repeating lessons. Many of the children barely eat one meal a day, and the school has done its best to provide them with a basic rice meal a few times a week. Another problem is the economic crisis and inflation in an already impoverished country, leaving the teachers without salaries for months at a time.
In order to help the school continue its basic operations until the new building will be ready (see our building project: A School for Haiti) Peer Servants Canada has put together a monthly sponsorship program for our partners. For a minimal 25$ per month, sponsors contribute to keeping the school open and running, paying teachers and providing food for the children.
